Theory and Practical Applications for Building Skills, Enhancing Communities, and Inspiring Lifelong Learning through Aikido principles and practice with Children.
The Instructor: Charles Colten, is the Director and Chief Instructor of Aikido in the Schools, based in New York City. He earned a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Columbia University, teaches Aikido and Tai chi to children in public and private schools, and gives Children’s Instructor Seminars in Europe and the United States. Charles worked as a teacher in schools for more than 25 years and currently holds the rank of 4th degree black belt, granted by Aikido World Headquarters, Hombu dojo, in Tokyo, Japan. He hopes that the cross-pollination between the Aikido and Education communities will enrich the experience for teachers and students in both.
